Every Relocation Director has their stories. It might be about a deal that went sideways, or something crazy an agent did, or some unbelievable transferee behavior, we all have them.

While venture capital backed entities are trying desperately to find the magic bullet to make a real estate transactions easy (good luck with that), many firms are using AI and various forms of technology to deliver leads to agents in an automated way. Anything to make the complicated process simpler is welcomed. That’s all fine for searching options and for delivering internet leads, but does it have its place in relocation?

With Super Tuesday upon us, I thought I would share a memory. My daughter attended the Junior State of America Conference back when she was in high school. When I picked her up along with a group of her friends for the hour long drive home, I could tell they were fired up and they began to recount the events of the day.

Have you ever been in a situation where you have told your leadership something 500 times and when an outside expert comes in and says the same thing, all of a sudden everyone is all ears? I call it Outside Expert Disorder.

Throughout my many years in relocation I have observed, with great interest, the relationship relocation departments have with their company. And when I say ‘company’, I mean the leadership, the managers and the sales associates. Sometimes the relationship is harmonious. Sometimes it is tolerated. Sometimes it is revered.
